# Paint tool

### Painting Objects in Your Scene

To start painting, open the **Toolbar** by pressing the A/X button, then select the **Paint Tool**. This tool allows you to customize objects with different **colors, opacities, and materials**.

### **How to Apply Color**

You can choose a color using:

* A **color palette**
* A **hex code**
* The **eyedropper** **tool** (to pick colors from existing objects)

To apply your selected color, simply hover over an object and press the trigger button.

### **Adjusting Materials**

Open the [Object Inspector](https://learn.shapesxr.com/object-inspector), select the object, and navigate to the **Material tab**.

**Available Material Styles:**

* **PBR** – Reacts to light realistically.
* **Unlit** – Not affected by lighting.
* **Passthrough** – Creates a transparent, see-through effect.

**Blending Options:**

* **Opaque** – Solid, no transparency.
* **Alpha** **Blend** – Smooth transparency fade.
* **Alpha Cut** – Sharp-edged transparency.
* **Additive** – Increases brightness when blended.
* **Multiply** – Darkens and blends with the background.

You can also adjust **Metalness** and **Roughness** to fine-tune the material’s look.

### &#x20;**Using the Eyedropper Tool**

If you’d like to copy a color or material from another object, use the eyedropper tool:

1. Click the **eyedropper** icon to activate the picker.
2. Use **A/B** (X/Y for left-handed) on your dominant controller to set the mode:

* Pick Color Only
* Pick Material Only
* Pick Both

3. Click on the object with the desired color/material, and it will be applied immediately.
